First Sarah

Sarah M.: The girls got guts for being date numero uno. She gets points in my book just for leading the ladies in this crazy adventure.

Date Recap:  The date starts out with Bachelor Rick picking up Sarah and a semi-awkward hug at the door. From there the date moves to Griffiths Observatory where the two walk around observing the
Observatory. Observing the Observatory. Sounds redundant, but that's what they did. Observed and walked around and observed some more while viewers observed a semi-awkward date unfold. I missed the restaurant where they ended up, but I would imagine at least some stimulating conversation took place over dinner.  However, the footage they chose to show viewers is when something gets stuck in Sarah's eye.  Yikes! The editors even go so far as giving us “closed captioning” so we can read what they are saying word for word... (thanks editors!) in case we couldn’t make out the conversation for ourselves... which we can’t. But I would imagine it would probably be best that way.  Or at least for Sarah.  Can you imagine what her reaction must have been when she saw that was the footage they chose to use?  I mean, really, the camera-person didn’t get anything better?  My heart goes out to poor Sarah.  Girl, we feel for ya.

First Impression: One put together chicca. She seems like a nice girl who has a lot going for her, and would make a great wife to any number of good LDS guys.

Surprises: Bachelor Rick held her hand. So his first date appears to have gone smoothly.  He puts “the moves” on her, and what girl wouldn’t be completely stoked about that? I can't say I was surprised he held a hand on the first date, but I didn't see it coming with this one.

Second Date Potential: Moderate; If there is a date #2, we advise something that will let Sarah's personality shine through a little more than simply “observing” and picking things out of her eyes. We know you’ve got it in you Sarah!

TMB Excitement Level: Although he held her hand, from our standpoint, Rick only seemed semi-enthused about this date.

Creativity Points (1-10): I can only give her a 5 on this one. An observatory and dinner is better than dinner and a movie, but is it creative enough for a first date? We'll let you decide. Er, rather, we'll let Bachelor Rick decide.

Final Thoughts: You've got to feel for Sarah on this one. You immediately like the girl from the start, just because she seems so sweet, and my heart goes out to her. It's gotta be rough being the first date, the first to lead the wild bunch. On one hand, Bachelor Rick has no one to compare her to on his TMB experience thus far. On the other hand, was her date memorable enough to withstand the next 20 + dates yet to come? She seems like a nice girl and a great catch, but we’ll have to see if her calm, somewhat shy demeanor is enough for Bachelor Rick's energy level.

So, are we dead on, or dead wrong? What do you think?
